New Holiday Classical Caber: “Ding Dong Merrily on High” (Video)

Dirk, Meatball, and I have a special holiday treat for you guys. Here’s “Ding Dong Merrily on High” as arranged by my hubby (a.k.a. Jack Parton), performed at Spencerville SDA Church in Silver Spring, Maryland on December 22, 2018. Huge thanks to Spencerville Church for the recording!

Happy holidays, everyone. Peace on Earth, and good will toward all.

Classical Caber: Dirk sings Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers” in Providence, RI

Last Saturday, Dirk joined the Brown University Chorus in a performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, also known as the All-Night Vigil. Our friend Fred, the director of the chorus (which is comprised of Brown students), needed to supplement the ensemble with a basso profundo, and Dirk fit the bill perfectly. Not everybody can hit that low B♭! I only managed to capture a little bit of video (above), but you can really hear Dirk’s mellifluous bass at the very end of the clip.

Here are a few photos from the performance; I’ve highlighted Dirk with a yellow arrow.

Cleans up nicely, doesn’t he?

Video: Dirk Caber performs piano in Berlin before a sold out crowd!

On September 7 in Berlin, my hubby Dirk — performing under his real name, as he does for all musical endeavors — participated in the third annual Classic Meets Fetish benefit concert in association with Folsom Europe. The concert took place at Zwölf-Apostel-Kirche for a sold-out crowd of over 900 people! Unlike last year’s concert where Dirk performed all original compositions, this year he played some beautiful pieces by other composers… on piano, harpsichord, and tuba! Here’s the first of his performances, a solo piano piece by Federico Mompou called Suburbis. Hope you enjoy it!

I’ll post more video from the concert once I get a chance to edit it. In the meantime, here are a few pics. More to come!

New Classical (meets fetish) Caber: Federico Mompou’s Prelude No. 6 for the Left Right Hand

This Thursday night, September 7, Dirk — along with a number of his exceedingly talented comrades in the leather and fetish community — will be performing a series of classical works at the second annual Classic Meets Fetish concert in Berlin. Among other works, Dirk will be presenting Federico Mompou’s Suburbis, a series of five short solo piano works. Tickets for this benefit concert, if they aren’t sold out already, are available here, or in person at Mr. B in Schöneberg. Hope to see you there!

This isn’t Suburbis, but Dirk recently recorded himself playing Mompou’s Prelude No. 6 for the Left Hand… except for some reason he played it with his right. Still sounds good though!

Classical Caber for the holidays: Dirk shares his brand new Barcarole

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! Dirk and I want to share something with you to celebrate the season… a brand new original composition! It’s a barcarole, a song traditionally sung by Venetian gondoliers. Dirk wrote it for me to learn as I (slowly) re-teach myself how to play the piano… the one that you, our wonderful and supportive fans, recently helped us acquire (see The tune is perhaps especially appropriate for the season, as the first five notes might suggest a familiar carol.

This recording is of Dirk playing the piece — I’m not quite ready to perform it yet — using his laptop and a single microphone, a process for which he says he needs some more expertise and practice. Hence, it isn’t studio quality, but we’ve cleaned up the audio to the best of our ability, and we’re still happy and grateful to be able to share this with you. We hope you enjoy it. (This piece, along with many of Dirk’s other compositions, can also be found on his SoundCloud page.)

Dirk and I truly appreciate all the support you guys have continued to give us over the past year. Thank you for being a big part of our lives! And no matter where you are or what holiday you celebrate, we want to wish you all the best this season and happiness in new year and beyond!
